Welcome to the Website of the Jay County Development Corporation!
On behalf of the citizens, the communities and the various agencies, we welcome you to the website of the Jay County Development Corporation (JCDC). Economic and community development are central to the growth and development of our county and the communities of Portland, Dunkirk, Bryant, Pennville, Redkey and Salamonia.
Our county is located in east central Indiana, equidistance between Richmond, Indiana to the south and Fort Wayne, Indiana to the north along U.S. 27. We are about 30 miles to the north of Muncie, Indiana , home of the world renown Ball State University (alma mater of David Letterman and other notables). We are less than two hours from the major international airports of Indianapolis, Indiana; Dayton, Ohio; and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
We need to acknowledge two significant contributors to our website, namely the Portland Foundation (www.portlandfoundation.org) and the Jay County Hospital (www.jaycountyhospital.com). These two entities assisted the JCDC greatly in the process.
